MOAA – Take Action: Ask Your Senator to Back Bill That Improves Survivor Benefits

Hello Surviving Spouse Liaisons,

I have as an attachment from the MOAA website information about the Military Retiree Survivor Comfort Act (H.R. 2214) and a Take Action information as well. Please feel to share it with your Chapter members & express how important it is for everyone to contact their House of Representatives.

This may not be of help to us & Surviving Spouses in our chapter but could be help for the spouses that are Caregivers. I wish I had known about this program 5 & 6 years ago. I hope it is good for your reference files in future & needs you may want to pass on to others in your chapter.

VA Secretary Denis McDonough said, “I know that at times, throughout VA’s history, caregivers have been overlooked, not included, or not appreciated for the back-breaking work they do, and the incredible service that they provide. But I’m here today to say, to any caregiver, that those days are over. Let me repeat: those days are over.”
