Legislative Affairs

The Council is active legislatively advocating for all who currently serve, have previously served (including retirees) as well as their spouses, families, and survivors.

We participate in the Annual Advocacy in Action (AIA) activities in Washington DC each spring sponsored by MOAA.

In 2021, AIA was conducted virtually in May and June. We had great success, personally contacting 10 out of our 12 Members of Congress or their Veterans Affairs LA in the House. Four contacts were virtual, and seven were by telephone.

The goal of MOAA is to address Legislative Issues with Congressional Members. MOAA annually generates a list of issues they want to emphasize with Congress. You may see their latest list of issues by Legislative Issues page of this website.

From time to time chapters may receive special requests from the Council and/or MOAA to contact your Members of Congress asking them to support upcoming votes on key issues. Please respond and help MOAA achieve their goals. More information can be found on the Legislative Affairs Take Action Center page (https://takeaction.moaa.org) and on the Legislative Issues page of this website
